Photographed at Salton Sea, Imperial County, California - 11-13-2010
First time this species has been recorded in California, usually found no further south than Alaska/Canadian border. Was there with a group of 40-50 other birders, other than one fly over the distance was so great and lighting conditions so poor that it was nearly impossible to photograph. The few shots posted from the ground are extremely magnified and enhanced just to show the species. You can see the difference best on last shot on left, note the bill, the front goose is a Greater White-fronted Goose, see the white above the bill, the back goose is the Bean Goose, note the lack of white and the band (it's orange-yellow) around the tip of the bill...
